Mahendra Khanal, an electrical engineer specializing in hydropower projects, with extensive hands‑on experience from greenfield installation to day‑to‑day powerhouse operation and maintenance. Over the past several years, I have worked on Pelton and Francis turbine‑generator units, main transformers, GIS switchyards, EOT and gantry cranes, and modern control systems such as SCADA and PLC, helping clients bring complex electro‑mechanical systems into stable, commercial operation. My role consistently focuses on ensuring that every component—from intake gates to transmission lines—works together safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with technical standards and project specifications.

Clients trust me because I combine detailed technical understanding with practical site experience. I have supervised erection, testing, and commissioning of turbine‑generator units in multi‑MW hydropower plants, taking responsibility for cable routing, termination, protection coordination, and grid integration so that new units synchronize smoothly with the national grid. In existing plants, I have managed powerhouse operations and preventive maintenance programs aimed at minimizing forced outages and improving overall energy output, using regular inspections and performance checks on machines, switchyard equipment, and transmission lines to catch problems before they become failures.

I also support clients by strengthening documentation and communication. My work includes preparing technical installation plans, reviewing OEM Inspection and Test Plans, and coordinating clarifications between contractors, consultants, and owners to avoid costly rework and delays. When issues arise—such as deviations in test procedures or unexpected site conditions—I help identify root causes, propose practical solutions, and document non‑conformances clearly so that decisions remain transparent and traceable. This approach not only protects project quality, but also builds long‑term confidence among all stakeholders.

Across every project, my goal is simple: to turn engineering drawings and equipment deliveries into a safely operating hydropower plant that meets or exceeds the client’s performance expectations. Whether I am on the factory floor during testing, in the powerhouse during commissioning, or in the control room monitoring SCADA data, I work to ensure that each system contributes to reliable, sustainable power generation. By combining disciplined engineering practice with clear communication and respect for safety and environmental standards, I help clients achieve the results they expect from their investment in hydropower—stable generation, reduced downtime, and long‑term asset performance.
